چکیده

A 6-year-old boy presented with sudden onset of progressive, asymptomatic crops of well-demarcated, symmetrical, hypomelanotic macules ranging in size from 0.1 to 0.5 cm [Figures 1-3]. The eruption appeared in crops and began on the forearms and then spread to legs and thighs and face over a period of 1 week. Most lesions were non-scaly and discrete. Some closely situated macules showed confluence. After the progressive eruption involved all four extremities and the cheeks, the rash appeared to stop progressing further. The trunk, palms, soles and mucosa were spared. He had a transient episode of coryza and mild fever for 10 days before onset of the eruption for which no treatment was sought. Apart from mild congestion of the throat, the remainder of the physical examination was normal.

Many clinical and laboratory-based studies have been reported for skin rashes which may be due to viral infections, namely pityriasis rosea (PR), Gianotti-Crosti syndrome (GCS), asymmetric periflexural exanthem/unilateral laterothoracic exanthem (APE/ULE), papular-purpuric gloves and socks syndrome (PPGSS), and eruptive pseudo-angiomatosis (EP). Eruptive hypomelanosis (EH) is a newly discovered...

Eruptive pseudoangiomatosis.

Eruptive pseudoangiomatosis (EPA) is a rare, benign, spontaneously regressing childhood exanthem. The term was recently coined by Prose et al.1 to describe a dermatosis characterized by the sudden onset of a few to several bright red angioma-like papules with a different histopathology from the true angiomas. We describe three patients with the typical lesions of EPA but with some peculiar feat...

Black heel (talon noir) associated with a viral exanthem.

A 6-year-old child was referred for a suspected viral exanthem associated with URTI. On examination the trunk showed a maculopapular rash while the sole showed multiple black “spots” which were present for 7 days. A diagnosis of Talon noir was confirmed by paring the lesion with a No 15 blade which removed the superficial layer of the stratum corneum, and revealed puncta of black pigment of ext...

Eruptive pseudoangiomatosis: three cases in Korean middle-aged women.

Sir, Eruptive pseudoangiomatosis (EPA) is a rare, selflimiting exanthem, which is known to occur primarily in children. The first reports on this disease can be traced back to 1969 when Cherry et al. (1) described acute haemangioma-like lesions occurring in children with echovirus infection. No skin biopsies, however, were performed. In 1993, Prose et al. (2) proposed the term ‘eruptive pseudoa...
